Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 3/4 cups flour (sifted)
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground clove

Instructions

  • Cream sugar and shortening
  • Add salt and beaten eggs
  • Add remaining ingredients in order given.
  • Spread dough on cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until done.
  • Cut into squares.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups crushed graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups coconut
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  •  1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Combine the graham crackers, butter and sugar
  • Pat into a 9″ x 13″ pan and bake for 10 minutes at 350°.
  • Combine the coconut and condensed milk.
  • Spread on baked crust and bake another 15 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Melt 1 cup chocolate chips 
  • Frost the top with melted chocolate

Mother’s Melting Moments

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick softened butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup shortening

Instructions

  • Cream sugar, butter and shortening.
  • Add egg
  • Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture.
  • Add vanilla
  • Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet in small balls.
  • Press down with fork dipped in cold water.
  • Bake at 350° for about 10 minutes.  Makes approximately 70 cookies.
  • You may dress these cookies up by adding sprinkles or chocolate chips to the top before baking.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup white powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup softened butte
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla 
  •  2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl add cornstarch, powdered sugar, flour and mix well.
  • Add in butter and vanilla, mix until combined.
  • Form into 1″ balls
  • Roll in granulated sugar
  • Stamp with the bottom of a glass, fork or pastry stamp.
  • Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes.
  • Makes 3 dozen.
  • Best eaten the next day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 16 ounces dates cut up and floured
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Mix the above ingredients together.  
  • Drop by teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet.  Bake 12 minutes at 350*.
  • These keep well.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup melted honey
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 4-6 mashed bananas
  • 3 cups whole wheat pastry flour
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  • Mix together the honey, butter, eggs and mashed bananas.
  • In a separate bowl combine the flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins and walnuts.
  • Add dry mixture to wet mixture and mix well.
  • Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheet and bake at 350* for 10-14 minutes.  Makes 7 dozen.

Crackle Top Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 3/4 cups sifted flour (scant)
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon 

Instructions

  • Mix  together the shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, flour, cream of tartar, eggs, baking soda, salt and chill.  
  • Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon, set aside.
  • Break off pieces of dough about the size of a walnut and roll in cinnamon sugar.
  • Flatten with a fork on an ungreased cookie sheet 2″ apart.  Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup blackberry wine
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Heat wine to a boiling, remove from heat and add raisins.  Let stand to cool.
  • Cream together butter and brown sugar.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time until fluffy.
  • Add vanilla and wheat germ.
  • Sift flour with baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt.
  • Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, alternately with raisin-wine mixture.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for about 12 minutes.
  • Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 stick softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 1/2 cups oatmeal

Instructions

  • Combine sugar, cocoa, butter and milk.
  • Boil for 2 minutes
  • Add vanilla, peanut butter and oatmeal.
  • Stir well.
  • Drop by teaspoonful onto waxed paper.
